Martin Pescador Lodge
Martin Pescador Lodge Fly Fishing ChileChilean Patagonia is a labyrinth of fjords, inlets, twisting peninsulas, and islands. Fed by an extensive network of mountain lakes and rivers, Patagonia provides a fly fishing experience second-to-none. The world's second largest temperate rain forest blankets the near impassable Andes. Dense hardwood forests of beech, bamboo, and fern are home to abundant wildlife. Glaciers and waterfalls provide a wonderful backdrop. It’s truly magical.

Martin Pescador isn’t just a lodge – it’s three strategically placed lodges that maximize your fishing adventure. Upon your arrival in Santa Barbara, you will be met by Frans Jansen, your host, and will travel by car to Puerto Cardenas Lodge for three days of fishing. Fish the Rio Yelcho for large Browns and Rainbows. While you are fishing on day four, your luggage and possessions will be transported to La Junta Lodge on the Rio Rosselot for the next leg of your journey. At the end of the week, you’ll have the option to go Lago Verde for some incredible lake dry fly fishing. The opportunities found in this area are simply endless. Twelve premium rivers and eight lakes are waiting to give you action-packed fly fishing to huge fish.

Martin Pescador Fly Fishing ChileAmidst all the excellent fishing, you’ll be pampered and catered to by Martin Pescador’s attentive staff. Four star Chilean meals are sure to please you. Overseeing your needs at the lodge is Anna Jansen (a professional chef trained at the Culinary Institute of America).  Meals are prepared by Anna and her staff utilizing locally grown produce in traditional Chilean and international dishes. During your fishing day, lunch will be cooked riverside or you can opt to come back to the lodge for lunch and a short siesta. After fishing, enjoy drinks on the deck overlooking the Rio Yelcho amid unspoiled temperate rain forests, and glacier topped mountains.

On the last day of your trip, you will be treated to an authentic asado cookout. Find out what Patagonia is all about.

Fishing

Expert fly fisherman Frans Jansen has used his fifteen years of experience in Chilean Patagonia to establish a one-of-a-kind fly fishing program. Professional, English speaking guides using first class equipment will guide you through a broad array of fishing experiences. Martín Pescador Lodge utilizes jet boats, lake boats, rowboats, and rafts to ensure access to even the most remote rivers, lakes, and lagunas.

Careful placement of Martín Pescador's Puerto Cárdenas and La Junta lodges allows flexible and convenient access to the Yelcho, Futaleufú, Palena, Rosselot, Figueroa, Pico, and other smaller rivers. There you will catch rainbows, browns, sea-run browns, and occasionally silver or Atlantic salmon, or brook trout. On the rivers you will be changing rods often (wading or drifting), casting big streamers to the banks, and sight fishing for rainbows with small dry flies. Fishing on Lago Yelcho includes casting large dragon fly imitations to the reeds producing incredible takes amid spectacular scenery. This is a fishing experience of a lifetime. Luckily for you, you can come back. We’re sure you’ll want to.
